This is as good a time as any to start

Today is Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Nothing special about this date really. At least not that i can think of in this moment. It just is.

The world news sounds dismal and if i listen to it for too long i would probably end up feeling hopeless and depressed. So i’m not!

So how about i start this blog on this ordinary Tuesday? Really????? Yeah, just start writing! I notice that i have been delaying this first step. Messing around for days with technical challenges and the blog site, how it looks, and does it even work! This part i won’t really know until i finally write something and post it. Actually send it out there across the ethers of the web.

So here i am…. writing.

Taking this step which i have been wanting to take for two, close to three years!

It is about allowing myself to be vulnerable, to value who i am and celebrate my journey by sharing it with people who i know care about me.

It’s about self confidence and ….. how do i nurture this in myself?

It’s about courage, this word that comes from ‘cœur’ and resonates for me as strength and power in my heart. The willingness to step beyond what i know and am comfortable with. The willingness to risk. The willingness to connect with my inner beauty and creativity, to express this through writing and to allow myself to be vulnerable in sharing it with others.

Some years ago, when i experienced my life as falling apart i came across this quote:
“When you come to the edge of all the light you know,
and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown,
FAITH is knowing one of two things will happen:
There will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught how to fly.”
– Barbara Winter

I remember vividly thinking that the way the words were put together did not resonate for me so i changed them to:
When you come to the edge of all the darkness you know,
and are about to step off into the light of the unknown,
FAITH is knowing one of two things will happen:
There will be something solid to stand on, and Amma will teach you to fly.

Writing this blog is part of my flying towards my light …..

I would enjoy knowing how you fly. What does this look like for you? How does it feel?

In my book this Tuesday went from the ordinary to the memorable!

  1. I’d love to know more about you which is why I went to the first post, Your blog has a calming effect on me for which I’m thankful.

    • I feel touched hearing that my blog has a calming effect for you. I feel very moved right now knowing that what i write can contribute in this way to another. Thank you for sharing this with me.

  2. I enjoy the distinction in the quality of flying that you present. The spectrum of it. Like form challenging to serene and blissful. The reminder of self connection. Thanks

  3. Hi Arati, so happy to see this live. I love the name: A Path of Vulnerability.

How I fly? I notice I fly in many ways but two come strongly to mind – peaceful gliding, like when I am pruning flowers or touching the earth – and the scary uncertainty of first flight like when I am preparing for a difficult conversation.

    Fly high!

  4. Your header picture is beautiful. What lake is it?

  5. I am so glad that you started your blog. I look forward to us being in the blogging world together.

  6. yep… trusting and knowing. Sweet, thanks Kristin

  7. This song comes to mind. .. be like a bird, who halting in its flight on a limb to slight feels it give way beneath her, yet sings, sings, knowing she has wings…

  8. Coeur – age, strength of heart.
    Trusting. Trusting ourselves.
I think, when we trust ourselves, our inner lamp lights up, and God is so happy!
I know I am happy seeing your light shine Arati.
    Thank you!

    • Hi Ahalya,
Yes, the part about trusting ourselves. Thank you for offering this. Something about trusting our inner resources and our resilience?
I have access to more of these than i did even 5 years ago, so the part about cœur – age, strength of heart resonates a lot for me. It’s the journey thing. I look forward to seeing you in september
