Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #92: Going Back – the second time around

This week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: Going Back – the Second Time Around comes from John Steiner. You can see more of John’s work over at Journeys with Johnbo

Last April I posted two photographs of flowers growing like bouquets on a tree’s trunk, something I don’t recall seeing before.

I still don’t know what kind of tree it is. I’ve been curious, and looking forward to seeing if the blossoms would return this year. They did, albeit smaller.

Will they come back next year
if so
what will they look like?

  4. Beautiful photos! The tree is a redbud. The blossoms come out first on wood. Then the leaves will follow. They are gorgeous! Pretty cool that this old one has the blossoms right on the trunk.
